Would you like to know if DBT-C can be successfully used with autistic children? In this video I have the honor to interview Sam Steinberg, LCSW-C, from Capital Youth Services in Bethesda, Maryland. Sam shares her clinical experiences with applying DBT-C to support autistic, subtly autistic, and sub-autistic neurotype children and their families. We explore what makes DBT-C different from other approaches families may have tried, what further adaptations are needed to be made to the model, and the real goal of treatment, which is not about changing neurodivergence, but about fostering emotional resilience and family connection.

On Mental Health Apps, Generative AI And Children

Should we be mixing AI with children’s mental health? A recently published Dartmouth Randomized Control Trial (RCT) investigated the efficacy of using a generative AI-powered therapist chatbot for treating major depressive disorder (MDD), generalized anxiety disorder or eating disorders (in adults).

I’m not a mental health professional. And I’m not an engineer. But as a serial entrepreneur I recognize mission-based opportunities at the junction of technology with vertical industries such as mental health, and at the same time, the red flags. In this case, the mission is getting more child therapists out into the world through top-tier training, and the opportunity is scaling the training through injecting technology, including the use of AI

We Are The Comprehensive Training Center:

Expanding Global Access with Live and Asynchronous DBT Training

Our live training has become a worldwide movement. Clinicians from across the globe joined our first DBT Basics training, which was conducted in English with simultaneous Spanish translation. This level of international collaboration is at the heart of CTC’s mission. Seeing clinicians from different countries interact, share insights, and support one another is exactly what we set out to do. But we’re not stopping there!

We’re beyond excited to offer asynchronous courses—making DBT training more flexible and accessible than ever.  With the launch of our on-demand learning platform and website, clinicians have access to self-paced, high-quality DBT training anytime, anywhere. Whether you’re a seasoned professional looking to refine your skills or a newcomer exploring DBT for the first time, our courses and Resource Library Subscription are designed to meet you where you are.

See below and in subsequent newsletters for more details on our upcoming courses. The future of global DBT training starts now!
