DBT-C Training Prerequisites

Fake Do Not Delete

Is it mandatory to take the DBT Basics course if I have taken DBT Foundational in my Ph.D. program?

The training received in individual graduate programs cannot be evaluated for equivalency. For all licensed clinicians, unless you have taken a DBT Foundational or Intensive course or received a Linehan DBT Board Certification, The Comprehensive Training Center’s DBT Basics course is required to ensure a base level of understanding necessary for the DBT-C advanced training.

What if I took a DBT Foundational or Intensive course through Psychwire?

That is acceptable with proof of completion.

What if I took training from Behavioral Tech Institute but lost my certificate?

You need to contact Behavioral Tech Institute to request a replacement certificate.

DBT Basics

FAKE DO NOT DELETE

Who is DBT Basics for?

This course is designed for child psychologists, social workers, and other mental health professionals who do not have DBT Foundational or Intensive training but wish to do the DBT-C training. It is also beneficial for professionals who support DBT teams but do not plan to implement comprehensive DBT treatment (e.g., nurses, psychiatrists, support staff).

Would DBT Basics help me understand the standard DBT model?

Yes. It provides a general understanding and could be a good introduction before taking standard DBT Foundational training. It is open to anyone, even students, but does not certify or license participants.

Superparenting

FAKE DO NOT DELETE

Who is Superparenting for?

Superparenting is primarily for parents and caregivers of emotionally sensitive children. Caregivers could include extended family members, teachers, mental health professionals who are not licensed clinicians but want to learn about DBT-C strategies, or anyone else who interacts with emotionally sensitive children. It may also be useful for therapists interested in applying the material in their practice, therapists refreshing their DBT-C training, or those preparing for DBT-C training for the first time.

Should my child attend the sessions?

Part 1 is designed for parents, but children (15 and older) who want to improve their relationship with themselves may benefit from Part 2. Younger children or siblings might attend parts of Part 1 if it helps them understand and validate each other.

Is it beneficial to take both parts, or can I take one separately?

Part 1 focuses on external strategies (helping children regulate emotions and function better), while Part 2 targets internal strategies (helping children build self-awareness and apply learned skills). While they can be taken separately, they complement each other.

What if I want my ex-spouse or a nanny to take the course too?

If they are part of your household and will be attending together, they can share access. However, if they will be accessing it separately, they need their own registration.

What is the refund policy for Superparenting?

Refunds are available before accessing the third lecture, subject to a 15% administrative fee. Once three lectures have been accessed, no refunds are provided.

How many consultations can I miss?

DBT-C Asynchronous: All six consultations are mandatory.

DBT-C Live: You must attend at least five out of six consultations.

What happens if I miss consultations in the asynchronous course?

You need to make up for missed consultations by attending extra ones within the 6-month course window. Extensions of the course may be purchased for an additional fee. You cannot move on to Part 2 without having completed the required six consultations.

What if I can’t attend all live sessions?

You can complete the training but will not receive a certificate of completion or CE credits, as APA requires 100% attendance.

When is the next DBT-C live course?

We will add upcoming live trainings to the website, newsletter and social media posts as they become available. Until then, participants are encouraged to take the asynchronous version, which includes live consultations with DBT-C experts and offers the same amount of CE credits.

DBT-C Resource Library Subscription

FAKE DO NOT DELETE

Who can subscribe?

Anyone, including clinicians, parents, and general audiences.

Is the subscription a replacement for DBT training?

No, it is meant to supplement DBT training. Watching role plays without prior training is like watching a surgery without attending medical school – it provides exposure but without the background knowledge.

Can I request specific role-plays or Q&A topics?

Yes please! Subscribers can submit questions and role-play requests within the subscription, and we’ll add selections to future updates.

How do I unsubscribe?

The process for unsubscribing will be outlined in the subscription portal. It requires e-mailing a request for cancellation, resulting in a pro-rated refund depending on next billing date.

If you haven’t accessed the content yet, you may be eligible for a transfer to the correct course.

What if I start a live course and then have a life event that prevents me from completing it?

In some cases, a credit may be applied toward the next available live course or transferred to an asynchronous version with a price adjustment.
